An autumn cover-crop blend of crimson clover, common vetch, black oats, phacelia and tillage radish. The legumes fix atmospheric nitrogen and the oats add biomass. Radish roots open compacted layers, and phacelia feeds pollinators if it flowers. A living cover over winter protects soil from erosion, holds nutrients that would otherwise leach, and feeds soil biology. Terminate in spring by rolling, mowing or grazing, ahead of the cash crop. A 25 kg bag covers about 0.6 ha at the recommended rate.
